The park is 442,000ha (1,090,000 acres) and has forests of mild temperature, waterfalls and mountains with dolerite and quartzite peak. The flora within the park is as varied as the landscape, with impenetrable horizontal scrub, lichencoated trees, pandani plants and the endemic conifers, King William, celery top and Huon pines.A boat ride from Strahan is the simplest means to reach the park. Visitors can disembark and take a short walk to see a 2,000-year-old Huon pine. The park also contains the rugged peak of Frenchmans Cap, accessible to experienced bushwalkers.
